Hey Mum. I almost had a little job for you for when you got back home. You see I made a little boo-boo with the computer.
I was dusting - Yes, I was cleaning - and I was wiping the keyboard. Once. Twice. Three times. Oh-Oh. Sometime during the third dust the screen went black. Oh-Oh. A couple of seconds passed and finally the picture returnsed. Only, it didn't look like it usually does. It looked like this:
I had no idea which key combinations I pressed or, more accurately the OATESCLEAN dusting cloth pressed, so I didn't know where to start to try and get it back to how it was. Here's a Tip: Trying to do a 'Help' search from the Start Menu and a Google Search, all at 90 degrees, is somewhat fun... and somewhat useless.
Well, I thought, I'll just have to lay the screen on it's side and figure it out later. It was then that I realised that the screen actually swivels 90 degrees! It's actually designed to do that! Whoo Hoo! So, around it went until it looked a lot like this:
And you know what? I kind of like it. It works for me - especially since I tend to have multiple windows open. They fit neatly, one on top of the other.
We may have actually played around with it when we bought the computer so I think in the back of my mind I knew it did have this function. But having used it for a few days, I have to say I don't want be going back just yet.
Since the 'boo-boo' I have actually figured out how to change it back to 'landscape' mode but I still have no idea how I managed to change it with the keyboard. Freakishly comes to mind...

On my computer if you go into control panel, Intel(R) Extreme Graphics...there is the rotation buttons but then there are key combinations next to them. I think you may have pressed them.
ctrl+alt+left arrow key should do it.
Thanks Laura! Nice researching.
If you press ctrl+alt+(down arrow) the display turns upside down :) I think if that had happened I would have really panicked ;)
