Melbourne Storm are #1

On Saturday night, at home in front of 10, 830 fans at Olympic Park, Melbourne Storm defeated North Queensland Cowboys 18 - 6 to secure their place as sole competition leaders in the NATIONAL Rugby League. Storm are sitting pretty on 16 points, two points clear of the Cowboys, Knights, Broncos and Bulldogs on the NRL Ladder.
Round 10 Ladder

How shiny is that???

It's the first time Storm has been in the top spot since 1998 - The first year they were in the comp. It's a pretty special feeling, that's for sure.

The boys all did really well with Cam Smith (as always), Dallas Johnson (as usual), Matty Geyer (all over the place - mostly in a good way), David Kidwell and Greg Inglis as stand outs. The young kids - Cooper Cronk, Brett White, Adam Blair, Ian Donnelly, Garrett Crossman and Ryan Hoffman (backing up from City v Country) - were all exceptional! Hopefully this won't jinx us but seriously - How much depth do we have!?!

For mine the PLAY of the DAY would have to go to the first try - Cooper kicks to Geyer, Geyer falls flat on his face, Geyer passes to Hoffy, Hoffy to Smith, Smith kicks, taken by Hill, Hill to Kaufusi (He does know his own team mates or was it a fluke?), Kaufusi to Johnson, Johnson to Kiddy, Kiddy SCORES! - but coming in a close second would be little Stevie Turner putting his body on the line and running straight into Bowen and Matty Sing to set up Matty King's try. OUCH! That's gotta hurt.

Scott Hill cracking his head open after colliding with Dallas Johnson (or was that a premeditated strike by a member of the recently formed: HBA*) may possibly have hurt a little more but I'm thinking the old expression - "No Brain, No Pain" - could be appropriate here. Unfortunately, even after losing what looked like a stubby full of blood, someone saw wisdom in bringing Hill back on a short time after. What the? Even little Beckham couldn't believe that decision! Suddenly the Cowboys were playing with 14 players again - "HILLY! You play for Storm. They are the ones in the navy Blue! Only give the ball to them, OK?" ;)

On Abc radio on Sunday afternoon they agreed with you as the try of the day. In fact they had it as try of the year to Kiddy :)
