Five Days Since...

Saturday

  • Haircut.
  • Visit to Colorado - the store, not the place.
  • Andrew and Adelaide dropped by.
  • Saturday Night Footy on Foxtel - How good is it!
    Game 1: Eels v Raiders
    Game 2: Cowboys v Panthers
    Game 3: Rabbitohs v Storm
  • Storm Win - That's four wins in a row.
  • Storm player, Michael Crocker, gets placed on report for a spear tackle - Fair call.
  • Michael Crocker gets 10 minutes in the Sin Bin for allegedly starting an 'all in' brawl - Frakking joke!

Sunday

  • Mum and Dad spend the day getting ready for their 9 week holiday.
  • Sunday Footy on SEN 1116 - Wests Tigers v Manly Sea Eagles - Shiny!
  • Tigers win - Not so shiny.

Monday

  • Work Day #1
  • Michael Crocker gets formally charged by NRL Judiciary with a Grade 4 Dangerous Throw and faces up to 12 weeks on the sidelines - His 'detailed' history at the judiciary helps not but the initial 'Grade 4' charge is a bit steep.
  • For similar tackles in the Super 14s and AFL over the weekend, players only face 1 week and 3 weeks out respectively - Different codes so they can't really compare but interesting none the less.
  • Grandma and I drop Mum & Dad off at the Airport Holiday Inn - They have an early flight tomorrow morning so it saves us all having to get up at 4am.

Tuesday

  • Work Day #2.
  • Mum & Dad's plane leaves at 10:25am.
  • Storm have until 2pm to decide whether to fight Crocker's charge or cop the 9 weeks for an early plea.
  • Storm decide to cop the charge deciding that fighting it is "fraught with danger." - Michael Crocker is out for 9 weeks.
  • Storm hold press conference - Storm CEO, Brian Waldron and Michael Crocker, with a bit of help from Coach Craig Bellamy, make the most of the opportunity and use it to comment on the following areas of concern:
    1. The "ridiculous" NRL Judiciary System
    2. The victimisation of Michael Crocker
    3. The NRL for the total lack of support for Melbourne Storm
    4. Channel 9, for the lack of free-to-air Melbourne Storm games, even though we have conistantly been in the TOP 8.
    5. The lack of respect from "
certain factions in the game" and their determination to see Storm fail.
  • Comments relating to the above piss the NRL off BIG TIME! - Storm are issued with an $15, 000 fine by the NRL for questioning the integrity of the NRL and its committee members.

Wednesday

  • Mum & Dad arrive safely in LA before catching a connecting flight to Salt Lake City.
  • Currently they are in SLC with Geoff and Jill.
  • The $15,000 fine issued by the NRL to Melbourne Storm ends up being money well spent - I don't think I have seen so much publicity since the Grand Final week in 1999!

Oh dear, Storm are having bad time - they should have known better than question the NRL - but then the publicity should be worth while...

The publicity has been worth every bit of that $15,000 fine.

It's also got everyone fired up - club administrators, coaching staff, players and supporters alike.

For the game last night - Storm v Cowboys - the crowd was over 10,000. Might not seem much to some but it's at least a couple of thousand above what we have been getting. Great atmosphere.
