After a fantastic season, Melbourne Storm were beaten by the Brisbane Broncos in the Grand Final last Sunday night. It was a tough game to watch and whilst we didn't help ourselves, a number of controversial refereeing calls made it extremely hard for us to stay in the game. It is only a game, I know, but it was nothing short of heartbreaking the way that we bowed out.
Despite the way it all ended, each and every player gave their all for the team this year and they have made me so proud to be able to call myself a Storm supporter. They are only a bunch of young kids yet they have achieved much much more then any of us could ever have hoped for.
The Storm's Annual Presentation Dinner was held on Tuesday night and, as usual, it was an effective way to mark the end of the "Rugby League Year". It was a great night and wonderful that all of us could share in it together.
Perhaps next year will be our year but in the meantime I am experiencing that strange sense of relief I always get right about now... No more League for five months!!! It's been a long, long season and as much I adore the game, the team and my fellow supporters - well, some of them ;) - I actually do look forward to the off-season.
Now for me, the next six weeks are all about my holiday. Three more sleeps and I'll be leaving our sunny shores for the somewhat cooler shores of North America.
