The Empire Builder & Lakeshore Limited

Minneapolis - Boston - Day 9 & 10
Wednesday 18 - Thursday 19-Oct-2006

This journey seemed to take a long time.

The first part was to Chicago was the continuation of the Empire Builder journey I had started four days early. At Chicago where I had to change trains and I had enough time to get out and walk around a bit. I went as far as the Sears Tower however, it was pouring with rain so I didn't bother going to the top. But hey, I can say I've been to Chicago!

From Chicago I took the Lakeshore Limited as far as Albany, New York. This was such a pretty trip. The colours of the leaves were incredible. As the name suggests we followed Lake Michigan for quite a while however it was dark for a lot of it.

For most of the day we travelled through country side full of farms. The properties were quite close together and the towns we went through were all quite large. Nothing like going across Montana, that's for sure.

At Albany we changed trains yet again to get a connection to Boston. The original Lakeshore Limited I was on goes into New York. For this part of the trip we followed the Erie Canal for a lot of the way.

We arrived in Boston about 1.5 hours late... and that's where I am now.

So, I'm up to date. This entry is probably a bit rushed because I only have 1:45 minutes of internet time left...

Quick spell check and post...

Till next time...

You have had some great times Kate. Rachel and her family sound nice - lovely how they looked after you, you were so lucky that Graham introduced you to them. Hope you got the recipe for pumpkin pie...

Glad to hear you are having such a great time and pity about some of the low cloud cover in Seattle and Chicago.
