..thank goodness.
New South Wales (17) defeated Queensland (16) in State of Origin I.
Queensland got off to a shocking start and were trailing 14-0 at around the 20 minute mark. Nerves maybe? After all there were 7 rookie players and State of Origin is a whole different ball game.
Whatever it was, they overcame it and managed to keep New South Wales TRY-less for the remainder of the game - 60-odd-minutes ain't too shabby. Queensland also managed to scored three tries of their own - two to Melbourne Storm's Greg Inglis and one to Manly's Steve Bell (Go Well! Go Bell!) - to equalise the score with less then five minutes to go.
New South Wales' halfback, Brett Finch, kicked the winning field goal a minute out from full time. Bugger.
Origin II is at Lang Park - with a HUGE home ground advantage for Queensland.
And then ORIGIN III - Telstra Dome. Melbourne. Wednesday 25 May 2006 - BRING IT ON!
