Two Sleeps to Go...

Emma and I are driving to Adelaide for the long weekend. Melbourne Storm is playing the Penrith Panthers on Saturday night. Yep, a Storm game -- as if there could be any other possible reason for dragging ourselves around the countryside.

The Panthers are in a similar situation to Storm in that they are playing their first 6 or 7 games away from home but unlike Storm it has nothing to do with the Commonwealth Games. I believe it’s because they are still in the process of re-developing their home ground and this weekend's game has been designated as a Panther's home game.

It should be quite the relaxing weekend except for the part where I'm going to have to re-visit driving a manual car. Welcome to:

  • Why I would be hopeless on The Amazing Race
    Reason 12 Manual Cars

How do those kind of cars work again? *gulp*

We’re going to drive all the way to Adelaide on Friday so we'll have all day Saturday to look around. We've arranged to meet up with a friend, Sam, and go to the Torrens River – a trip I'm hoping will include the big Rocking Horse. It's one of the few things I remember about Adelaide from when I went there as a kid.

Sunday morning we'll start driving back to Melbourne but we only have to make it as far as Keith, so effectively we have another full day to take it easy.

Easter Monday we'll drive back to Melbourne for real, stopping in at Maryborough to see Andrew, Lisa and Adelaide.

i remember a story, which related you saying you would rather donate a kidney rather than drive a manual car

That may well be true "Anonymous" but lucky for me I didn't end up having to drive a manual car over the weekend so no need for any surgical procedures... this time.
