Commonwealth Games - Weightlifting

On Day 6 of the Games (Tuesday 21 March) Anna and I went to see the Weightlifting - Women's 75 KG Group A divsion. Weightlifting isn't something I would have ever thought about going to myself. However, Anna's friend, Deborah Lovely, was competing and I said that I would go along with Anna to watch.
To be honest, I thought I might be a bit bored but suprisingly I found I didn't have time to be bored. I couldn't beleive how absorbing it was. There is a lot of strategy involved in this sport, that's for sure. All the girls did incredibly well and the competition came down to Deborah Lovely (Australia) and Sheba Deireragea (Nauru). It was a nailbiting finish but Deborah won by successfully lifting 115 KG in the Clean & Jerk. I was quite chuffed to be present for a medal ceremony and to see an Australian being awarded the Gold.

Final Results:
Gold: Deborah Lovely (Australia)
Silver: Sheba Deireragea (Nauru)
Bronze: Babalwa Ndleleni (Republic of South Africa)
